Three action teams from Veerapuram ,Kankankulam & Pavatkulam in the Vavuniya district gathered at the facilitation centre to attend FORUT’s awareness programme on “developing capacity and preparing the action teams to implement ADD related activities in their villages”. FORUT’s ADD District Co-ordinator I.Loganathan supported by volunteers facilitated the simplified programme that encouraged the participants to come up with activities that could be implemented by themselves at village level.

Many of the participants who were present at the session stated that it was important to guide the community in understanding the realities of false attraction in promoting alcohol and drug consumption along with the unjust privileges that are associated with the use. They also commented that many of them are unaware how the industry glamourize their produce through the media and how various promotions and sponsorships can trap people into use.

A follow up on the planned activities will be carried out and the participants agreed too meet monthly to discuss and evaluate what has been done in relation to ADD programme in their villages.
